  • Started in Boston
  • West to Lexington
  • Met Revere in Lexington
  • Escaped British officers

Why did Dawes and Revere go separate routes?
So they could each alarm a different part of Massacusetts. This way more people would hear the news faster.

I See
It Means
  • Lots of Red Troops(The British)
  • Few Blue Trooops(Minutemen)
  • Lots of Blue Troops on the floor
  • Eight dead Minutemen
  • House in Background
  • Colonists running away
  • The Minutemen were outnumbered
  • There were few Minutemen
  • Lots of Minutemen were killed/wounded
  • The British won this battle.
  • In a city(Lexington)
  • Lost battle;surrendered
  • What does this picture tell you about the military experience of the colonists and of the British?
Since America was a new country the colonists' army wasn't very well prepared for an attack. The British had a strong army and was larger than the Colonists's Army(the Minutemen) so it was an easy battle for them to win. Also, the British practiced daily but the Minutemen Army were made up of farmers, merchants etc.The Minutemen had less practice and experience.
  • Based on looking at this picture, who won the battle?
The British because they had a lot more troops than the Minutemen. Also, it says that eight Minutemen died and ten were wounded but it says nothing about the British being killed/wounded.

Similarities: Both of the Declarations are demanding independence. Both of them mention Britain.
Differences: The Malden Declaration focuses on the city while the Declaration of Independence focuses on the colonies as a whole.

I think that both of the declareations will state that they are declaring independence and then explain why they think they are right.
